D-Link Wireless AC750 Dual Band Range Extender (DAP-1520) Review

D-Link Wireless AC750

The Internet quality in our home is a decisive factor when we want to use our broadband connection for work or leisure. In very little time, products like PLC or WiFi network repeators have become commonplace in the homes of many users that want to go much farther beyond the possibilities offered by their default telephone router. We’ve tried the new D-Link Wireless AC750 Dual Band Range Extender (DAP-1520) and these are our impressions.

This simultaneous dual-band repeaters allows for the achievement of theorethical speeds of up to 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 433 Mbps on 5 GHz. It’s advisable to warn that, though it always emits on dual-band, we can only amplify the band we select (on either of the two supported bands). Furthermore it doesn’t incorporate Ethernet ports but is designed to amplify a wireless network in a simple and discreet manner.

D-Link brings WiFi AC to its company with the DWL-8610AP Access Point

The new DWL-8610AP Dual Band AC1750 access point marks D-Link’s bet on taking WiFi AC technology to the business sector, an important move that allows any small or large business to take advantage of this new technology.

D-link DWL-8610AP

The DWL-8610AP allows for simultaneous dual-band connectivity at 2.4 and 5 GHz at 450 Mbps on the first band an 1300 Mbps on the second for a combined speed of 1750 Mbps.

Internally, it has 3 on each of these MIMO 3T3R configuration bands. We should also highlight the technology this access point has that’s inherent to Wi-Fi AC, such as Beamforming, which directs the signal directly to each device and increases its coverage and performance; as well as BandSteering, which lets devices compatible with its 5 GHz band (all ACs and many Wireless Ns) connect automatically, which gives them a lower signal saturation.

DMZ: what it is, what you can use it for and how to activate it in a D-Link router

In recent years, manufacturers like D-Link have made a significant effort to make their devices simpler, adding support for technologies like DLNA or UPnP. However, sometimes you still need to access the control panel to control your network. Today we will tell you everything you need to know about the DMZ.

From a technical standpoint, DMZ is a demilitarized zone located between the internal and external networks (normally Internet). This DMZ’s function is to allow connection between the two networks, while the connections starting from the DMZ can only go to the external network; this means local devices will never be able to connect to the internal network. The next graph will show you how it works.

In the particular case of domestic routers (like the ones we will talk about), the DMZ host is the possibility of setting an IP address with every open port on the router, except for those defined in the NAT section.
